INTERNATIONAL PIPE LINING TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE REPRESENTATION OF SAERTEX-LINER® FOR SEWER PIPE RENEWAL

Nashville, Tennessee, February 13, 2006

The rehabilitation of aging sewer pipes is expected to cost hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 20 years, according the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Alternatives to the expense, disruption and environmental impact of digging up and replacing pipes are highly desirable. Today, on the advent of its first installation in the U.S., Nashville-based iPL announced that it has been named exclusive installer of SAERTEX-LINER® in the Americas and Canada. The material, and the way in which iPL uses it to line pipes without having to dig, is transforming the sewer pipe renewal industry.

”Now for the first time we can bring a process rated 0%; (by third party testing service IKT) to the problem of leaking sewer pipes,” says Joerg Kruse, CEO of iPL. “We’re very excited about this, because it brings a much more durable solution, and we can do it cleaner, faster and more economically than any other way of dealing with these problems.”

Kruse engineered the collaboration between iPL and the German firm SAERTEX multiCom® GmbH, making the sewer renewal process possible. SAERTEX® is maker of the fiberglass fabric, used worldwide in construction of wind-driven power plants, aircraft, and in shipbuilding. Comprised of multiple layers of woven, chemical-resistant glass fibers, the material, once cured, is able to withstand pressures of up to 1.7 million pounds per square inch.

The Brentwood, Tennessee pipe lining installation that took place today treated a 270-foot stretch of leaking 12” sewer pipe laid in the early 1970s. iPL used its proprietary OpenEye™ system, comprised of pipe-crawling robots, sophisticated data analysis and ultra violet light to cure the lining in place. The liner is stronger than the original pipe.

iPL will perform installations throughout the Americas and Canada similar to the one in Tennessee, in lengths of up to 1600 feet. The efficient and environment-friendly process is of great interest, from the federal level down to the local municipality which is looking to maintain its sewer system without budget-busting costs.
